for BW at least, it's the greens (not the blues) who are America Number One with M16s and the reds are Russkies with AKs, all the equipment descriptions even play off it. They still mix different eras of equipment together, but keep the country alignment, instead of AW giving the reds Humvees and the greens A-10s.

Hell, the green and red attack helis are, respectively, a Huey and a Hind casually renamed the Duey (with 'Heckfire' missiles) and the Hound (with the Hind's sealed cockpit included). The first few AW games are all "it was a nice day in war land and then Black Hole showed up to make everything worse" though, yeah.
