There’s a difference between admiring a Character’s Complexity and rewarding them with Playability. Rerir can and SHOULD exist as a narrative force, a haunting reminder of what happens when loyalty and love are twisted by power. But he doesn’t need to be “redeemed” or “marketed” to be meaningful. He can just be a Badass Villainous Boss or a Compelling Character.
3. Narrative Integrity:
In terms of Storytelling Integrity, it’s actually more powerful if Rerir STAYS Unplayable. That preserves the moral contrast between the Traveler and the Sinners, and it gives weight to the tragedy of Khaenri’ah and the Sinner's Sins that stretch beyond its Fall. If everyone becomes redeemable or Playable, then the Story risks losing stakes and emotional realism.
Rerir does not deserve to be a Playable Character, NOT because he’s poorly written, but because he’s too Well Written to belong among Heroes. His Role is that of a Sinner whose existence not only Threatens all of Teyvat, but also warns others of what devotion and denial corrupted by Power can destroy. Turning him into a party member that doesn't even fit in with the 100+ Other Current Playable Characters would betray the very tragedy that defines him, and the love that defines the rest of the Characters that surround the Traveler.
But this is a Discussion. Soooo what are your Thoughts? Am I just Looking too deep into it? Or are their people who GENUINELY want him to be Playable, and everything that comes with that Narratively and Morally?
