Ok desu thar was a bit of a strawman lets go with something a bit more accurate.
Mary the 40 year old white feminist from Ohio who thinks that equality is when women get job is the problem. Not Bill the pastor (though Bill absolutely is still a problem)
Mary as an older white woman thinks that racism was eradicated in the 90s and that we all lived happily ever after. 'Why does everyone care so much about race' she asks as black people still have plenty of reason to fear for their lives in traffic stops.
To her gay people are the same status as a handbag. As soon as they become an actual openly visible social community with everything that comes with that? Thats when it becomes too much for her. Not because of trans people existing but because it existed within her view. She grew up as a somewhat repressed upper to middle class girl in the PG-13 era of the 80s and 90s and 'doesnt understand why everything is so sexualized now'
She doesnt understand why a community of gay and trans people would form and thinks its a fetish community because yes it is about sexuality, but misses the big picture of its about the ability to be attracted to who you want to be attracted to, and be who you want to be.
She thinks herself someone who doesnt care for politics while having abhorrent political views because she cannot admit her own privilege in that and when someone tried to point it out she lashes out. Now instead of it being that she's always seen gays as pathetic and is mad that they truly exist publically its 'I was FINE with the gays but now trans has taken it too far! We need to roll back rights to the 80's!"
Gen X'ers are the problem in this case.
