Yeah the pads in my rf1400 were toast after 2 years of near daily riding. I got new pads and I'm wearing a used rfsr now as my daily helmet.

New cars are obscene. I love my 2024 QX60 but it's a company lease and there's no way in hell I'd pay for it myself. Visibility is atrocious. All the safety features have made it that way and just about necessitate back up cameras. Makes it harder to see bikes as well.
New cars have a lot of convenience and tech features. They're really quiet. They drive nice with the new 9 speed automatic transmissions. That's about it though. I doubt this next generation of cars is going to last very long.
My '68 Chrysler has power sliding front bench seat that still works and all of the cables that operate are encased in copper tubing, just to give you an idea of how much better things were built back then.
