Significantly better. Odyssey is the worst of the new AC games, Valhalla is second worst. The downside is it's the second longest game if going for 100%
>Combat, as long as you play on Nightmare, is actually difficult compared to Nightmare on the other games including Origins as enemies constantly block, parry, and unblockable you so you need to regularly be dodging, parrying, and using abilities and status effects.
>RPG mechanics are more or less nonexistent. Just level match equips and you're fine. For Yasuke you just need stuff with Posture damage while for Naoe you just need a Kusarigama that can apply Daze.
>You can't one-shot assassinate enemies unless you're on baby difficulties but the game is way better balanced around assassinations and you can instantly get to 3 bars removed right from the start with no effort so it only matters in lategame areas.
>Stealth is the best in the series if you play on Nightmare with a single caveat that is that enemies cannot climb onto rooftops which is absurdly broken and I don't know how it got past testing.
Areas are just designed better, patrols are way more frequent, enemies don't stop investigating if they find a body, you have workers that will run to alert guards if they see you or a body, etc.
>World design is extremely well done when you're on the beaten path and don't stray off it. If you stray off it into areas they don't intend you to visit (Like cutting through mountains) it becomes procgen slip and slides.
>Kofuns are as varied as tomb designs in Origins.
>There is an actual difference in gameplay between the two and going to Yasuke after hours of Naoe is very cathartic as he just murders 30+ men without breaking a sweat even on Nightmare.
>Season system is great as it leads to variety in each season both in terms of visuals and stealth.
>There are tons of targets to go after as there's many side quests where you have to hunt down groups doing bad things instead of just people tied to the Templars.
