The simple truth is that you kind of can't win. I can honestly say with full conviction that there doesn't exist an English (American-made, in any case) localization of Asian video game media, Japanese, Chinese, or Korean, that doesn't have localization fucked up somewhere in some way. There's worse stuff and there's better stuff but there's always lies. In every product. Learn the language or cope.
