Russian landscape painters like Aivazovsky and Shishkin are kino but I don’t think that they’re as good as the Hudson River school. I just think that their Russian landscape is fundamentally less interesting than America’s so it’s just not going to be as interesting. Friedrich is the best landscape painter ever though.
