The problem with The Times uncritically repeating Ukrainian government sources is that newspapers downstream just quote the Times so it starts to make up what people actually believe about the war. This leads them towards false confidence in Ukraine's position and government policy starts to get affected.
Now this wouldn't be a big deal normally since the West could just use force to influence matters but for the first time the strength in propaganda is not matched by the ability to exert force on the ground.
This basically implies that Western propaganda's effectiveness makes it a weapon against the West.
If Odessa ever becomes Russian it'll be because Western propaganda will not stop talking about the imminent defeat of Russia.
