>The Demonic Botfly is a flying insect that attacks by shooting spikes with paralyzing and narcotic poison at its victim. They feed by injecting acid and then sucking out the liquefied insides of the victim, leaving the bones covered with skin. When the Botfly has eaten its fill, it becomes capable of beginning the transformation into a queen: it finds a suitable victim and, having paralyzed it, unites with it, transforming into one new creature. Theoretically, any creature is suitable, but preference is given to intelligent females, so that the queen is intelligent and the transformation is less expensive (than the transition from male to female).
>During the transformation, the victim is affected by a narcotic poison that clouds the mind and destroys the personality. The transformation cannot be stopped once it has begun. Although an antidote can help against the poison and preserve the memory and personality of the victim, the queen will still become part of the Botfly swarm, possibly even more dangerous.
>The Queen unites the Botflies into a swarm and controls it. While the swarm has a queen, the entire swarm is a single intelligent organism. The queen attacks victims by shooting eggs with larvae of new gadflies at them. When hit, the victim is paralyzed and turns into an incubator for the larvae that have penetrated the body.
>If ordinary demonic gadflies pose a threat mainly due to their ability to attack from the air at a distance, then the queen is a strong and robust creature and has a very high survivability. There is a known case when after a battle all that was left of the queen was her head and upper chest, but over time the creature completely recovered.
