i feel like the only way to solve issues like this is giving it a try and see if you have a chance. obviously im not saying you should go straight away (i don't know shit about your case lol) but i can say for sure that doing nothing and letting that person leave your life usually is not a good decision to make (although it can be a decent one in some circumstances, sometimes you need some issues of your own before heading into a relationship).
