Cream just proves even further why a character without a purpose is bad.
Cream tried to fill a role that was already filled by Amy, so, Sonic team decided to split Amy's personality and give one share to Cream. Now, Cream was the cute compassionate girl while Amy was just Sonic's love interest and team leader/group mom. They flanderized both characters, making them both shallow, instead of just keeping Amy as one multi-dimensional character.
The same is with Silver. There is not a single thing he can do that the other characters can't.
Rival shtick? Knuckles and Shadow do it better. Getting tricked shtick? Knuckles already did it, and it's tired as shit. Being naive shtick? Literally every "kid/girl" character like Amy and Tails. Doing Future stuff shtick? Sonic already did that in CD.
There is no purpose to his character at all. Same goes for Blaze, Rouge and even Shadow. None of these guys are unique. We should just get rid of them before they ruin other characters the same way Cream ruined Amy.
