The Limited RGB dynamic range (16-235) is the standard used for almost all video content (Blu-rays, streaming, broadcast TV).
It's the "broadcast safe" RGB range.
You end up with a worse viewing experience if you force full RGB range (0-255) on media content that's meant to be viewed on the limited RGB range, like crushed blacks.
