The thing about the Prequels is that it used to be you could just say "All of those characters you didn't like? Yeah, they're all dead by the time Episode 4 rolls around", and you could even say that the universe as a whole went through a drastic change from between the end of 3 to the start of 4, so it's all pretty excusable. But now, we live in an era where you could literally cut out the original trilogy and just watch the Prequels and the Sequels and get the full story.
