I don't know about that. They seem pretty resourceful in the game, managing both endless machine weapons through Teseo's septima and also arming low rank adepts with both armor and guns. Not speaking of the giant moving Minecraft castle they have in Adeptistan or whatever.
I think they just saw the means to an end and jumped for it.
