I feel a real sense of loss when I go through sites like these. They're like ghosts in the shell, frozen in time for how many years or decades until the servers are wiped. Who knows how many happy memories and dreams were made when it was active? Though maybe it worked out and the people who ran them now live their lives in the real world, married with kids even. Maybe I'm just projecting my own feelings but I've been online in various forms since 2001 and seen so much come and go, yet I can't shake the feeling that me still being here is a mark of my inability to succeed in real life.
