Luffy probably mostly sees Roger as a symbol of the kind of great pirate he wants to be, it's less about who he was as an individual. If they met like Luffy met Rayleigh maybe he'd love and respect him too, but I think he's too abstract as a dead guy for Luffy to really care much about.
