There is Virgin Valley in N Nevada you can mine precious opal for an expensive fee and they have black opal or tree limb replacement opal etc that looks like your pic.
It’s not stable opal tho, and has to be left in mineral oil for a year or longer to mature. Otherwise it will craze and crack even completely shattering under the pressure of regular surface air.
I have always wanted to go to Australia toLightening Ridge you can find boulder opal that is amazing of all varieties and it’s mature and stable.
Both are natural and beautiful opals and there are very few places in the world where the conditions were right for precious opal to form in large deposits.
It’s my favorite gemstone.
