Reminds me of IRL where my town tried to build a pedestrian path for kids going to school because they had to pedal their way to school on the main road with tons of trucks going past. One old cranky grandpa fought the motion with lawsuits for 12 years until it was finally built. His reason was because excavators would temporarily ruin the view (to the road) from his backyard.
