There is no such thing as a broader Indian culture; it's always been distinctly different tribes and cultures somehow coexisting in the same country.
The kashmiris, the baltis, the hunza, the ladakis, the gujjars-bakarwals and the dogra are uniquely different ethnic identity, culture and language groups that were part of the same princely state as an example.
Instead of celebrating this difference, like people used to, the hyper-nationalists try to impose a state mandated language, identity and culture across the subcontinent.
