OF course you're allowed progress, as long as the established companies and politcians in your area are in control of it.
And by progress, it has to be progress they approve of, hence more and more regulations, to ensure only the established companies can gate keep it.

Why do you think you're so closely monitored now and giant conglomerates used to be made up of 57 different independant companies?

A lot of EPA rules and local regulations are created just to BLOCK other companies or establishments from entering the market. Even simple things like installing your own septic tanks and digging holes, they make you jump through a million different hoops and fees, to make it not worth your while and rely on local businesses.

Nearly every new law since the 90s isn't to benefit the environment or you. It's just the opposite, which is also why conglomerates were able to buy up 57 different companies and makes it easier for them to control a market. Conglomerates that exist today couldn't exist until politicians started deregulating a ton of markets (utilities, resources, media, etc) in the 90s.
