The sad thing is that the oligarchs who are moving heaven and Earth to do all this shit aren't even really doing much of anything with the money they're making anyway. It'd be one thing if Bezos was taking his gorillions from Amazon and doing some crazy interesting thing with them, but instead he seems to just do an upscaled version of what a guy with a million dollars a year would do; buy stupid consumerist garbage, put money in stonks and plot how he's going to stay on top to make another billion that he also won't have any use for. They seem like lost souls, desperately fighting each other and everyone else for stuff that doesn't really matter and won't improve their lives at all. Elon's the only one who kinda makes sense to me because he at least seems to have alchemized his fortune into a very high-octane hobby (trying to reach Mars) and you really do need gorillions for that. I don't know what the rest of those dudes are even doing with their lives. They're just painting by numbers; throw away your 20s/30s making your first gorillion, start an ineffectual charity for tax purposes, visit Epstein's Island and do something you'll regret, get divorced, fight your poverty class workers over every dime, die, fade into history as a nobody or a barely remembered embarrassment. Terrible way to go when you have so much money to do so much with.
