I'm sure I read somewhere that plague boils were ground up to be used as a sort of "vaccine".
Doesn't make any sense, as it wouldn't be attenuated bacteria using this method.
It also didn't make sense that someone would intentionally spread it, but it does if plague doctors and multiple businesses were incentivized to "treat" plague patients.

This reminds me of Gardasil being pushed on teenagers to vaccinate against multiple benign strains of HPV that act as a prophylactic against pernicious strains of HPV and expose recipients to a risk of crippling side effects.
If you're reading this with skepticism, look into why Japan banned Gardasil.
