Not to mention the water shortages in areas where irrigation is used. why keep farming so much corn when 40% goes to ethanol? Those farms are depleting aquifers like the Ogallala (picrel). There's desert to build on, and there's land that should not be getting used as farmland to lessen the strain on water.
