I'd also like to add some bits like a bit of personality and backstory that are more than just "your totally average highschool student" but we also have to dismiss the entire fake memories thing (basically just take bonus mode and Summer camp as their intended character) but some people don't wanna hear that.
Basically he's really good at multitasking and doesn't hesitant to work his butt off and learning more to help people. Even if some people got put off by his low self-esteem, remember that even Kaito ended up jealous that Shuichi was more useful in solving cases.
