It's great if the escape 'opportunity' was never an opportunity at all. Just a bit of false hope set up by the captors to torment them a bit more, and break them down even faster. She tries impotently to escape, they laugh at her stupid attempts at heroics, and then they swoop in and put her in far, far more tortuous bondage as a punishment. Let her feel like she really deserves her fate. She brought this on herself by being too stupid to escape.
And of course, sitting there like a good girl and not escaping doesn't help either. She didn't do anything to stop her rebellious little companion, so she's basically as guilty. If she really didn't want to be punished she wouldn't have been an accomplice. Who knows? Maybe if she'd tried to help they'd both be home free now. She's got plenty of time alone to agonise over that now.
