>I hope he’s a good guy but definitely know what you should get
I think he is a very good person and she trusted him and i dont think he'd have any reason to betray her wishes. Plus my grandma has 14 kids so it would also make a bunch of siblings mad

What kind of plates do you collect? Do you display them at all? Are they sets or one-off pieces?
I was curious so i just checked mine, my 'common use' plates are just Corelle Vitrelle which is pretty cheap (purchasable ceramicware at Walmart) and Doulton and Co Limited plates.
For special occasions i have a set of uranium glass etched plates made by Jeannette glass co, and a set of uranium glass sectional ('Homestead') plates by LE Smith
For decorative purposes i have a wall mount that can display 4 plates at a time, currently i have a set imported by Mesa International, one plate has a rooster, another a hen, another has baby chicks and the other a cluster of eggs. I have another 4-piece set that features things like flowers and grapes made by Meiselman Imports from Bavaria. I also have a set of 4 light blue Fenton plates from their 'bicentenial' (commemorative) line, except one of the plates was misfired/contaminated and contains both manganese and uranium. I also have a handmade bronze and a hand-wrought peuter plate from Wendell August Forge
