AEW was final step that caused the smark majority to change with the societal/online shift of the late 2010s. We went from the remnants of the ECW/early ROH indy fan mindset to the "le heckin' wholesome" adult cartoon watcher hugbox fanbase that uses wrestling as a friend simulator and as a moral purity test. I don't even dislike AEW as a promotion, but what it did to embolden this type of person in regards to wrestling discourse is basically unforgivable.
