Well, for one it's just a fucking musou. All you do it repeat the same X -> X -> X -> X -> Y combo against fodder armies and IIRC the first game's story was rendered noncanon by TotK so this one should be in the same category. It actually probably gets more hype than it deserves.
That said I did like the very first Zelda musou that pulled from across the entire franchise to give us actually cool characters and fanservice. Making it all about BotW is weird.

Then don't have it take place in the past where you don't even have the hero of the series? Or just find a way for Link to show up there like the time travel shit they already did in the 2020 game. Or ideally stop milking BotW and make a stand-alone Zelda Warriors game like the first one which can have a lot more characters, enemies, settings and also character designs that actually suit a combat-focused action games instead of the midget shaped BotW characters.
