It's a bit much to write a mystery novel set on a tiny island and have your main character read 'and then there were none' and go 'wow this is just like my situation'.
Also I was going to do a cinemasins and complain about a character having 'and then there were none' in 1955 and that being the title, but then I read the wikipedia article and apparently the book was published in Japan in June 1955 as 'and then there were none' and the story is set in September 1955 so damn, it works out perfectly, he's reading a hot new release, it actually makes sense.
