First game's a pretty cool take on the whole "Pokemon-ish" vibe, and the game feels like a huge love letter to Ghibli, with cool cutscenes and a legit Ghibli vibe to everything.
Second game felt like they got about halfway through making the game, then were told the entire dev studio's going to get butt fucked if they don't get the game out in a month, so they padded everything out with low-effort minigames and shit, then ran out of time to do much of anything else.

Valid reasons people might rate a game down after playing for years:
>game got an update that broke it
>player realized that they got addicted and had to break free and warn people of it
>player spent way too much money on gacha rolls over the years but finally realized powercreep is making all their spent money useless
>game doesn't work on their new Win 11 computer
>dev got bought out by a worse company
>update added invasive/shit DRM
>sudden censorship due to govt changes in [country]
>dev announced a sequel without fixing issues the original game has
>game went F2P and online's now full of a ton of noobs and scammers
>game SHOULD go F2P but isn't, and all that's left are the sweaty tryhards competing against each other
>dev intentionally/unintentionally broke mods irreparably
>sudden overwhelming cash shop, plus probably P2W shit too
>game's price went up and the old players now want to say "I love it at the price I got it for, but the game's not good enough to justify the new price"
>played it years ago and hopped back on recently to find that everything's changed (for better or worse) and they miss the old game
