Huh, weird.
I guess not everything can line up perfectly, but for what they were going for I think the game does the job. As long as it passes the “squint test” I’m happy. The moments we get with DK and Pauline are more than worth it, and I really like the of the arcade characters going on to have grandchildren that eventually become friends

Just beat it.
The difficulty definitely gets closer to the “just right” zone by the end, especially in the final few layers. I think they did a much better job with the difficult curve than Odyssey, but I haven’t sunk my teeth into the postgame too much so maybe that will change.
Difficult or not, the game is definitely going in my all time favorites. So many aspects of it felt like they were made for me specifically. I love video games so fucking much
