In my opinion and personal experience, they're hardly making grandiose statements like that. Normies use simply what is convenient/easy to use and popular. But yeah, it's omnipresent indeed, from the pro-wolf/yote and anti-hunting groups I follow/get pushed to me on facebook to the folk attire stuff that Pinterest algorithm pushes to me because of my searching/browsing history.
