Are you fucking kidding me. The first half of the series was all about them. Post timeskip turned them all into living joke dispensers and catchphrase simulators. Chopper and Usopp went from being front and center in the story to have their character completely subverted, and don't get me started on Franky and Brook, who basically never got to do anything. Roger could have been anything and it wouldn't have mattered, it's much worst to just throw your secondary characters away like OP did.
