Kairi in her vignette was eyeing up the single world Title gold and Asuka is also working as a singles since she's been back. They can still be friends/allies onscreen but don't necessarily need to go back to being a full time team. and the intrigue of what might ever happen if they encounter each other in singles competition while both pursuing the same singles World Title.
