here's an average anime fantasy show

you might be thinkging, okay but there's a ton of western fantasy shows that are similar, right? well no. the problem is that most fantasy shows are like "yeah we have this traditional setting, but let's pust this twist X, that will make things interesting!" and then they put all this cliche shit like noble savages, thieves are actually moral people, shy succubus, the paladin is a woman, and so on and so forth. every. single. fucking. show. you have all these "this thing is X but actually Y" kinds of twitst that are so fucking overused you want to vomit
and then frieren comes out and it's like
>demons are bad
>elves are great at magic
>warriors are strong
>magic is mysterious and grand
>heroes are heroes
>the great adventure
there's more but you get the gist
people are tired of all this shit. lotr is universally acclaimed for a reason. kids pretend to be heroes and wield sticks as swords for a reason.
