I'm playing a 90s JRPG that is very stingy with saves. We're talking an hour plus of gameplay between towns.
I did die a couple times and reload a save state. This is NOT about difficulty, I could have done without them just fine.
I am an adult with responsibilities and my backlog is too damn long to justify doubling the length of a game by replaying large chunks of content repeatedly because of this design philosophy. Call it save scumming, call it "you didn't beat the game", whatever, I can live with that.
Though I think these days I'm not the outlier anymore.
