Sucks but electronics is like surgery, it is an occupation that is completely based around steady hands. I mean you could become purely a design guy, but at that point you would need a college education, multiple degrees, and would be competing in an insanely crowded job market since the East Asians completely mog the rest of the world when it comes to electronics, not exactly something you can do in your garage. Also I don't know if this will help, but having a single shot of alcohol for every two hours you work is remarkably efficient at calming the nerves and steadying your hands. As I have gotten older I have noticed a slight tremor in my finger tips that has made working with extremely small components more and more difficult, so just having a flask of whiskey on my work bench so I can take a break, take a shot, and then smoke a ciggy while I wait for my nerves to settle has been very effective in smoothing those tremors out.
