America actually used to have the most redheads per capita in the world because redheads were especially treated poorly by the British in both Ireland and Scotland so they had a higher tendency to emigrate. So the country basically got a giant injection of redhead genes from both the colonial period and 19th Century immigration. It's actually still the case in more remote parts of the country where demographics haven't shifted much since then, but not the case country-wide anymore.
