Earth wasn’g behind it’s line of sight, it was in direct view of it

The study of earth concludes on October when the earth passes behind the sun, then we will become visible to it again on December

If it is a probe it’s been sent on a trajectory to ensure that earth is visible to it for exactly half/half the amount of time
Basically the earth will go behind the sun at exactly the half way point of its trip through the solar system which is extremely unlikely naturally lol
