Whatever you do, don't penetrate the battery itself, It will shoot flames out if it has charge. Potentially for a long time.

Be careful when opening the battery housing if you're removing the board from the memory board inside the battery.
But you shouldn't need that unless you have special data on there like a TOOL / Pandora battery.
If you don't use the battery to get into the special boot phase (to install cfw) you can just discharge it somehow and dispose of it. Replace with any battery.

The aftermarket battery may have been built with subpar cells and your CPU might be throttling itself to compensate for the lack of power. Depending on what cells the battery uses you might be able to buy better quality cells and rebuild it yourself.
