It might well be the case that Liberals possess the same amount of total empathy as Conservatives do, but they give this empathy to meaningless things like trees, rocks, refugees, criminals, etc. I'm not saying that Liberals don't love their families, but the love they have for their families is minuscule in comparison to their love of all things that are foreign. With Conservatives its the complete opposite way around. A Conservative will look at a Moon rock as a neat thing, but they would NEVER value that rock more than their own families. That's the difference in how Liberals and Conservatives view the world.
