It probably depends on your bike because I've been using a simple quadlock (without dampening) for over ten years and have never experienced any problems, and I ride for 8+ hours a day.

UberJeet™ supplied me with this phone holder and it's great for keeping my phone dry in the rain but I don't use it because it takes too long to get the phone in and out of it, and it just looks shit.
