Update on the distortion / hum bars: I plugged the ground loop isolator into the wrong RCA cables. For reasons beyond my knowledge, my Philips 4-way autoswitcher ( PH61150 ) combined with the speakers (some Bose powered speakers) were causing electrical interference. The stereo RCA cables going from the TV out to the speaker in were causing video distortion when the speakers had power and the autoswitcher was plugged in with them. So it was consoles -> autoswitcher -> tv a/v in -> tv audio stereo out -> speakers, that was causing the hum bars. The ground loop isolator kills the hum bars entirely when I use it before the stereo out. So tv stereo out -> isolator -> speakers. I hope this helps a fellow retard.
