Which is funny because the third episode of the season seemed to mocked the entire concept of authenticity.
>Bobby has a German-Japanese fusion restaurant which he claims to be authentic
>The one supplier of binchotan won't sell to Bobby because he's not Japanese
>The supplier turns out to be a Japanese national but an adopted black man
>The guy claims Chane being involved with the business isn't good enough, because Laotians aren't Japanese nor should they be considered equivalent because they're asian
>A bunch of white guys show up at the restaurant claiming Bobby is appropriating their culture because he's not German
>In the end Bobby invites all these guys to eat his food, which he finally admits isn't authentic in any ethnic sense but it is what he likes to cook
>Because everyone liked the food, they're willing to let the authenticity thing go
Do you think the episode was written as disguised criticism of the mandated recasts?
