Yeah, I’m wondering about this a lot.

I’m thinking that poorfags whose parents went broke in 2008 probably made it uncool to go to malls to make everyone else suffer for their poorness. Even tho it’s free to go to a mall, they didn’t want to go and socialize and see others shopping and being happy. There was this kind of “now that some people got fucked financially, we all have to suffer” mentality going on around then, and thinking back to the people who pushed the “malls are gay” narrative, I’m noticing it was the people who were wealthy, then went broke. It’s weird we’ve sort of forgotten this because I remember back then people saying things like “it’s not cool to invite that person to a mall, his parents lost their job, they can buy anything”.

Really weird stuff, people loved malls in the 70s-2000’s, that was where to meet girls, hang with friends, and get a milkshake or Cinnabon. There was also a time where security guards would chase kids away from the malls, which was gay and fun to avoid, but it doesn’t feel like a huge reason malls died.
