I'm new to this hobby, I started right before Europe went insane with it's laws and feel justified now that it has happened.
With that said this isn't something I intend to share with the world outside my household and I built this with the intention of just restoring everything from backups and I also don't like being jailed by one operating system on my 8 core machine. The core functionality of my truenas VM is pretty much met when it maxes out my download and upload speeds on my machine's nuc and hdd locally so I don't really see a issue when that's the case.
I run my router OS on bare metal I follow good practice for other mission critical things but I don't see the need to burn all my resources on a NAS when I can put it to other things and keep it segmented.

I'm actually happy with what I accomplished as a grief response to losing someone close to me
