He basically determined that Trump never had any appeal to "traditionally Democratic voters" and as such did not have charisma. In reality, "Trump Democrats" were already a fairly widely discussed feature of the 2016 campaign even during the primaries, and he admitted Obama didn't have charisma in 2012. Ultimately, he misunderstands the concept of "charisma" by assuming press coverage is a factor, even when you look back at figures like W.J. Bryan.
