Really it was just a little blurb about her childhood. Her father and mother were both mages from different backgrounds, with her father being a Sharlyan Archon and her mother a Thaumaturge from Ul'dah. Academia is sort of in her blood and to highlight it I gave her her first magical feat younger than normal.

And I think a lot of people do cringe backstory stuff for their characters even if they don't admit it lol. It's only natural. We spend a lot of time 'as' these characters and fleshing then out makes the role playing better imo.
