These movies are mega franchises that don’t actually need to make their money back. Why?

The Simpsons barely has viewers to compete with niche autistic interest channels on Youtube. They pay their cast a gorillion dollars to keep them talking into mics from the old folks home.

Simpsons as a BRAND rakes in unfathomable cash still. They can’t let the show die because if it does it becomes harder to keep the long tail pumping money. The show is like an ad for all the other crap they sell.
Now I am not suggesting there is no fat to trim for the MCU. The tv shows especially got cut down and nobody missed it. Entire new lines of heroes they set up for sequels are gone. Eternals? Ten rings featuring cigar frog? Probably a dozen more I can’t even remember?
Is it desperation to go back to RDJ? Yes. But they can easily put out movies that barely break even or even underperform. It’s a small price to pay to keep interest going. It’s just a giant ad for the BRAND of Marvel. Same reason they still print comics that nobody reads.
