Ideally Steam would just offer actual installation settings for games so devs can just let you opt out of say, installing the 2x/4x zoom level variations of the assets. Least their approach in AoE allowed it to remain toaster-friendly, unlike a lot of other modern remasters which have bloated as fuck system reqs relative to what it's outputting.

Would be nice in general for most modern games since they sure as fuck love cramming gigs of audio files I'll never hear because I just play them in English, so I'd rather just not download them in the first place.
